John has more than 25 years experience in ministry on nonprofit leadership. Before joining LSG in February 2017, he served as the CEO at Action Ministries in Atlanta. John is ordained as a minister in the United Methodist Church.
Gary Johnstone, MSW
Chief Operations Officer
Gary joined LSG more than 15 years ago and was appointed by the Board of Directors as COO and then as interim CEO in the Fall of 2014. He designed and built for LSG a statewide social services system focusing on foster care, adoptions, family services, and services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Robert Herrera, MBA, MSA
Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO)
Robert joined LSG in June 2017. In his role, he provides oversight and leadership in the functional areas of Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Audits, Grants Management, Risk Management, Information Technology and Human Resources. He has more than 23 years in the Non-Profit/Government financial industry.
Marcia Wessels, MPH, CHES
VP of Programs
Marcia has more than 25 years of experience providing leadership and coordination for the development and implementation of social service programs in communities throughout Georgia.
LaVonda Deloney, MBA/SPHR/SHRM-SCP
Director of Human Resources
LaVonda has over 20 years of diverse HR experience in the areas of higher education, banking and finance, and the nonprofit sector. She holds an MBA with HR concentration from the University of Phoenix-Atlanta Campus.
Director of IT
Reggie joined the agency in 2010, and is responsible for directing all technology and communications initiatives for the agency statewide. Reggie serves on the LSA LITN Board as treasurer and is a member of the voluntary organizations active in Disaster Response in Georgia.
Tracie Ball, MA
Executive Director of the Northwest Region
Tracie earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from Shorter College. She has more than 25 years’ experience in outpatient/inpatient mental health and child welfare.
Emily Laney, LMSW
Director of Disaster Response, Refugee and Immigration Services
Emily Laney has worked at Lutheran Services of Georgia since 2013. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker for the State of Georgia and is a Kennesaw State University Alumnus. In addition to her work with refugees, Emily has worked in anti-trafficking awareness and in higher education, and has spent extensive time working with internally displaced persons and refugees in the developing world.
Melissa Austin, LPC, DDP
Director of Home and Community Based Services
Melissa has her Master’s degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and has been licensed since 1995. For more than 20 years, she has worked in home- and community-based services in the nonprofit sector, including direct service, program development, compliance, administration and provider network development. Melissa has been with LSG since 2012.
Executive Director of Operations
Ryan has more than 10 years of experience providing leadership within Programs and Operations in the nonprofit sector. Ryan is responsible for enhancing the internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow LSG to continue to grow and fulfill its mission.
