Focus
The Spirit Kids Club is an after school program for inner city children in
"Area C" of Savannah. This area of Savannah has the highest crime rate
in Savannah and is well known for its drug problems.
Club site and hours of operation
Spirit Kids Club meets at St. Pius X Family
Resource Center, made available through a Georgia Child Care
Grant contract with
Youth Futures Authority, a large non-profit agency in Savannah. The Spirit Kids
Club is open from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Club features
Children receive:
- an after school snack
- homework assistance
- mentoring
- counseling

Activities include:
- arts and crafts
- supervised sports
- recreational activities
- life skills
- health workshops
- field trips

Examples of past special events
- The Savannah College of Art Design invited some of the children to a
recent carnival held at the college dormitories.
- The children went to the Savannah Civic Center for a performance of
"Cinderella."
Congregations & individuals can help
The Spirit Kids Club is always in need of supplies for their program and also
collects and distributes standard school supplies to the children in the club. Please contact
